New York Upstate Barn conceptual design examines vernacular architecture in the context of contemporary architectural design. Barn is a common typology in the area, with distinctive proportion, roof geometry and fenestration pattern being carried through generations. The proposed concepts challenge the traditional architectural style, in the innovative yet complementing sense.
Proposed are circle shaped skylights at barn roof. Skylights carry a tone of whimsical while allow ample natural light.
