Design for a downtown apartment interior renovation project was based on the open floor plan ideology, where spatial domestic functions blend. The apartment is for a couple in their mid-thirties. The space serves as living space and home office, as well as for gathering. Functions are divided by curtains as flexible partitions, bedroom from living/office space; and kitchen/dining area as a separate space. The flexibility of a curtain as an architectural element allows the apartment to transform from a fully open floor plan to a plan diagram driven by a function of each space.
White is the accent color. Doors are integrated and appear as wall surface defined with a reveal. Walls end at concrete floor, there is no floorboard nor reveal. Kitchen is a composition of modules, with no visible hardware. The countertop slab is .75-inch-thick quartz stone, and is aligned with cabinetry, with no overlap. Furniture and lighting fixtures are by Natuzzi, Nendo, Naoto Fukasawa, Junya Ishigami, Lenka Ilic, and Davide Groppi. Floor and ceiling are concrete slab.
